The active principle present in Wonderfig is Hydroxy anthracene, Hydroxy anthracene initially does not absorb in gut wall but later gets converted by micro-flora in the large intestine into active aglycon. It is active aglycon that produces a laxative effect on the colon. WonderFig stimulates the colonic motility which results accelerated colonic transit. This is achieved by reducing the opportunity for fluid absorption from the stool.

WONDER FIG is a fruity syrup combining dried fig fruit and senna extract. The Fig Fruit, rich in fibre, acts as a natural laxative laxative since fibre rich foods help in positive peristaltic movements therefore providing relief from constipation.
The other key ingredient - Senna extract is also well known for its laxative properties and is rich in sennosides A & B which aid peristaltic movements.
Constipation is the result of the excessive absorption of water in the colon or the lack of a high fibre diet. The symptoms caused by this are stomach ache, stomach cramps, bloating and nausea.
